(Makes 5 servings)
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo steel-cut oats
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo amaranth
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo millet
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo buckwheat
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo tri-color quinoa
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo rolled oats
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo raw unsalted pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
1/3 cup organic, non-gmo raw unsalted sunflower seeds
1 TBL organic, non-gmo ground flax seed
Cooking time for grains vary based on the grower. Read the instructions on the package carefully and follow the suggested cooking time. Longer cooking times create a creamer texture, shorter cooking times create a crunchier texture.
Sanitize cooking area and utensils
Bring 4.5 cups of water to a rolling boil
Add steel-cut oats.
Stir and set timer for 10 minutes
Add amaranth. millet, buckwheat, and tri-color quinoa.
Stir and set timer for 20 minutes.
Add rolled oats, pepitas, and sunflower seeds.
Stir and set timer for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Stir in ground flaxseed, stir thoroughly
Let cool for 15 minutes.
Portion and refrigerate any gruel to be eaten within 5 days. To store longer, freeze and store for up to 6 months.
